Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drive after Hypnosis?

Yes you can. You will feel very relaxed, but you will be fully aware.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Anyone can be hypnotised if they want to be, and have the desire to make positive changes in their lives.

Can I be made to do anything against my will?

No. I cannot make you do or say anything that you don’t want to. Hypnotherapy is a trusting and cooperative relationship between both the client and therapist, and the client will only act on the positive suggestions that are reasonable to them.

Will I remember what has been said?

Yes and no. Most people find that they hear most of what is being said, but also find that their mind wanders off every now and again. This is not a problem as the subconscious mind is still listening to the positive suggestions being made.

What does being hypnotised feel like?

We experience natural hypnosis many times a day, for example:
You can experience trance state when you are on auto pilot driving your car down a familiar route. You are in natural hypnosis when you read a good book and get totally ‘lost’ in the story. It’s a bit like daydreaming, when you are aware of your surroundings, but your mind has wondered off onto other thoughts.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No. You will always be brought back to a full state of awareness at the end of the hypnotherapy session.

What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)?

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a revolutionary approach to human communication and self development, based on the discovery that by changing how you think, it is possible to change what you think. NLP can change your mind and your life, for faster learning, better relationships and great success. It can help clients to overcome anxiety, fears and increase their confidence. NLP techniques have a close affinity with Ericksonian hypnosis, as Milton Erikson was one of the therapists on whom the founders of NLP ‘modelled’ their system. Hypnotic trance is not necessary for their use, but greatly enhances their effects. In this way NLP can be bolted into the hypnosis session for maximum positive impact.

Are there any side effects?

PLENTY – AND THEY ARE ALL GREAT! On its own, hypnosis is known to improve memory, enhance creativity and imagination, and of course induce relaxation. You will find that you begin to take more and more control of your life, and positive things just start happening to you. Its great.
